We often get asked by new shooters when they will know if they are ready to show up to their first match. The answer is simple: if you have a holster, preferably Kydex or plastic, and magazine carriers mounted to your belt, you are most of the way there. You do not need to buy new gear until you have shot a few matches and have a better idea of what you might want and or need. Also, we have an awesome group of veteran shooters who will be happy to help you at the match!
Our buddy David made a great video that walks you through simple drills to know whether you are ready to attend a match and general ideas about what to expect. There is no high bar of proficiency; what matters most is that you have awesome trigger finger discipline and know how to draw and load safely.
